Nov 7, 2019: Sims Versailles launches!
Around 10 years ago or so (my how time FLIES!), I decided to recreate the Palace of Versailles for the Sims 1. I tried building it with all the wonderful objects I had downloaded from hundreds of talented artists from the Sims 1 community but I just couldn’t get it to look right. So…I decided to create it from scratch. Every wall. Every piece of furniture. Every picture and piece of artwork. Having never created an object or wall before (not even a recolor!) I knew that I would have a gargantuan task ahead of me.
Since then, I have worked on Sim-ifying this wondrous place. There have been breaks in between creations (some lasting from a few days to over 1 year) due to real life or work on other projects. The palace isn’t fully complete yet, but its getting there, slowly but surely!! I am building this majestic edifice one room at a time, which is why you may see some unfinished walls or floors in the backgrounds of some of the room pictures. Due to the limitations of the Sims game (lot size and 2-story-only restriction), as well as the inaccessibility of part of the actual palace, my build will not be an exact replica of the palace, but as best a recreation as I can do. That also explains why some rooms aren't where they should be; some are missing; and some are fictional. I also elected not to include a lot of the "tourist function" rooms such as gift shops, public bathrooms, and the restaurants inside the palace. Once everything is done, I will upload the fully built and decorated palace for all to enjoy.

A GREAT big thank you to the sites listed below. Without them this project would be near impossible!
Berdom's Versablog - an AMAZINGLY thorough and detailed blog site that photographically documents almost every room in the palace, even ones not featured on tours! - in French
http://berdom.skyrock.com/
Claude Rozier's Versailles site - another wonderful site chock full of photographs of the interior rooms, exhibits, and the gardens - in French (I believe it may be currently closed)
http://720plan.ovh.net/~jardinsd/Chateau/Appt-1/Pages/00-Plan.htm
Official homepage of the Chateau de Versailles
http://en.chateauversailles.fr/homepage
This is Versailles Madame - another wonderful site chock full of information not only about the palace but about the people, fashions, etiquette, and everything Ancien Regime.

Also make sure to check out the Google Art Project Versailles as well as Wikipedia, which had a "Wikipedian in Residence' in the Palace for 6 months working to facilitate full documentation of the Palace.

Thank you as well to all the wonderful Sims 1 creators who provided bases for all of my objects. As stated previously, I had never created Sims 1 objects or walls before and learned a brand new appreciation for all the hard work and time that each and every artist puts in to making wonderful creations for the Sims. Any files that have been cloned from other creators contain the appropriate credit in the object descriptions. If by chance I missed giving proper credit I sincerely apologize! Please let me know and I will of course make the appropriate corrections.
I’d also like to thank lilac and mmarie, who supported me from the very beginning and contributed some of their own creations to this project. Please visit the Miscellaneous section to see their amazing work!
Also to the amazing Simtonic who gifted me a gorgeous sundial fit for the palace gardens! It can be found here.
And to everyone at Terra Luna, who have been very kind and supportive for so long. I may not be a frequent poster there but I am definitely a frequent lurker. ;-)
If any creator would like to create a Versailles-inspired object, wall, skin, etc and needs a place to showcase their creation, it would be my honor to display them in the Miscellaneous section as well!

Please note:
As many doors in the palace are decorated differently on each side depending on which room they are in, I have noted which zip contains the door between each room pair. If a download page includes a README, the information is contained within that readme text file.
Also:
Every zip contains all objects and walls to create each room unless otherwise noted. For objects and walls that are duplicated throughout the rooms, I have noted in the README's where to download them.
A shopping list from other sites includes (but is not limited to):
The chandeliers used in most of the rooms are by Anna's Timeless Treasures.
The black and gold console table seen in various rooms is from Anna’s Timeless Treasures.
The red chair seen in the various rooms is from Dincer Hepguler’s site.
Make sure to download mmarie's Versailles wood floors in the Miscellaneous section. Yakko's Glass Floor and the Old Checkered Floor (I believe this is a base game floor?) are also must-haves. I also used Sky's Manderley Black & White tile floor in a couple of the rooms.

All of my creations are free to be used in any way. I do ask that if you clone the objects that the appropriate credit is given (not just to me but if there is already credit to another artist in the description, please include that credit as well). I have all expansion packs (not including Deluxe or Double Deluxe) so I cannot guarantee that all of my objects will work if you do not as well. I have tested each and every object and file on Sims Versailles and they all work fine for me. I do not take responsibility for any unforeseen damages that may be caused by their use. I have also checked all items to ensure unique Object IDs - good practice is to check all new downloads for Object ID duplicates using ObjectID or SE Object Manager.
